About us - a message from the owner, Sara Tjernström
I've been living in Ao Nang since 2001. The same year I meet my husband Stefan, who is running Kon-Tiki Diving & Snorkeling Center. That's where I was working for my first few years in Krabi. Working as a dive master was wonderful and it's nice to be out on the sea every day with great tourists. But when we got the happy news that we were expecting our first child I started to think about a change of direction and a new career.
On 3 December 2004, I opened my first restaurant Absolut Restaurant & Bar, serving mainly Swedish and Thai food. Two years later, we got the opportunity to move to a new - our current - location and I decided to change the name to Blue Mango and expand the menu a little. Whoever visited us at Absolut and liked it will for sure like Blue Mango. The menu and décor is similar but nicer and better.
New for this year is the special play area for children, where kids of all ages can play or relax in front of the TV and watch a DVD, while the parents finishing eating or having a cocktail.
The restaurant has 35 seat outdoors and 70 inside and still has plenty of room to move around. Whether you are coming alone, as a big group or even to celebrate an occasion, you are all welcome. We can arrange a lot of different things, please just contact us with your requirements.
Most of our staff have been with us since we opened in 2004 and they have been trained both by myself and my Swedish chefs. That's something I'm really happy with because I cannot always be here, especially now with our second child recently arrived!
